A Vibrant Center for Teaching and Learning

s a dynamic and integral part of the scholarly enterprise, the University of Miami Libraries rank among the top research libraries in the United States.   With rare and renowned collections, state-of-the-art technology, and vast information resources, the Libraries inspire learning and discovery for students and scholars – on campus and worldwide.

Ensuring the Libraries’ continued excellence

The Friends of the University of Miami Libraries, a library support organization, was founded in 1960 by a group of University of Miami alumni and community leaders.   The Friends play a vital role in supporting programs, securing gifts, and funding projects for the Libraries and are instrumental in ensuring the University of Miami remains one of the foremost research institutions in the world.

Community members interested in books, libraries, and learning are welcome to join the Friends of the Libraries.   Members are invited to special events such as lectures, exhibit openings, and behind-the-scene tours.   In addition, Friends receive a subscription to Context, the Libraries’ newsletter and are recognized in the annual Honor Roll of Friends and Donors.

Friends who join at the Life Member, Conservation Circle and Library Champion levels are offered additional privileges, including an exclusive invitation to the University Librarian’s annual reception and opportunities to participate in special interest workshops.
